Don’t Give Your Pet the Hot Foot!
July 30th, 2008It’s summer! Everywhere I look, I see people walking their pets. Thankfully, most of the pet owners walk their pets on grass or take special precautions to protect their pet’s feet. Some, unfortunately, don’t think about the dangers their pet faces.
Living in the Valley of the Sun, I am shocked to see people walking their pets on sidewalks and pavement in the early evening. The temperature is still 102° F. and the sidewalk is still around 140° F. To make matters worse the pavement may be over 160° F.
Pet stores have booties in various sizes to protect your dog’s feet from the intense heat of the pavement. Some shops and veterinarians have free disposable booties for your pet’s protection.
Veterinarians treat many dogs for blisters and burns on their feet. These injuries could have been prevented by protecting your pet’s feet from hot surfaces.
You love your pet. Protect your pet by fitting it with booties to protect it from heat in the summer and numbing cold in the winter. Your pet will thank you for it.
